A a

Short A — tracing, picture match, and first words. Letter-size, prints on any home printer.

Why teachers and parents use it

Built for the way children actually learn to read.

Homework that sends itself home

Pre-K through 2nd grade. Tear off a page, send it home, and a parent can help without needing a lesson plan or an explanation.

You can see what's finished

Every worksheet has a name and date line at the top, so completed work is easy to collect, file, and show at a conference.

The fundamentals, in order

Letter recognition, then letter sounds, then blending into words. Nothing skipped and nothing taught out of sequence.

A real head start

A four-year-old can begin here and walk into kindergarten already knowing their letters and the sounds they make.

Works for English learners

Pictures carry the meaning on every page, so a child builds vocabulary and sound together instead of one before the other.

Fifteen minutes is enough

Each page stands on its own. Use one for a quick practice session or several for a full lesson — nothing has to be done at once.

The workbooks

Where the whole thing lives on paper.

The app teaches the sounds. The workbooks take a child from letter recognition all the way to reading — page by page, in order.

Who made this

Dr. Jill T. Hendricks

I'm an educator with a doctorate in education, and I wrote this series because I kept meeting children who had been handed worksheets without ever being taught the sounds underneath them.

Every page is sequenced the way reading is actually learned, and every sound in the app is my own voice — so the letter a child traces on paper is the same sound they hear on screen.
